Discharge - stage and surface velocity (RQ-24)
Revision as of 17:28, 4 November 2022 by Till (talk | contribs) (Till moved page Discharge - stage and suerfacce velocity (RQ-24) to Discharge - stage and surface velocity (RQ-24): typo in title)
Parameter to be measured:
discharge
Method:
estimation via stage and surface velocity, measured by microwave (Doppler)
Equipment:
vertical and slant-looking sensor in common housing
Advantages:
- non-invasive, non-contact, not endangered by debris
- more than just stage information; surface velocity can improve discharge estimation
Disadvantages:
- needs at least 0.3 m/s for velocity measurements
What to watch out for:
- in very low flows, beam may cover non-moving riverbed, corruptiing the measurement
- check RQ-30 (the successor device)
Problems/Questions:
Price:
Approximate price (in € or US$) with year and country of purchase
